Stepping it up a notch!

Hey guys!
It's been a few weeks since my last post, life is just busy busy busy. Ive been working some rubbish shifts lately so I have no idea what day it is but it's not long until my first lot of annual leave this summer. I'm counting the days down. I'm in need of a holiday and some sun!

So I'm moving on to talk about a new topic that's been a huge focus of mine this year, my fitness! Last year I ended up hating myself and I got my self into such a rut and gained a whopping 2 stone. I knew it was time I needed to do something when everything I owned just looked horrendous on me! I never realised until now how much weight gain can affect your mental health, I didn't want to do anything that involved me dressing up, I avoided pictures being taken, or if there was any taken I'd get myself upset looking at it. So I made the decision this year to get my butt in gear and get fit and healthy and start liking myself again. It's been the best decision I've made all year. I've lost 2 and half stone so far and I'm starting to like myself again. I'm working out at least 3 times a week and sticking to a low carb high protien diet (the majority of the time). I'm the fittest I've ever been and I've got plenty of energy, I even ran my first 5km last month.

Now that I'm nearer my goal, losing weight is getting that bit harder which totally sucks. But if I cut my carbs more and Increase my training I'll get there eventually. I just need to learn some patience, which isn't easy either.

This proves that when you really focus on your goal and have a postive attitude toward it, you can achieve anything. If you say you can't get fit, you won't get fit. I hear a lot of people say they don't have time to workout but they always have time to do anything else.

I love this photo, it proves my point to a tee!

What keeps me motivated is that I'm slowly checking off my goals one by one, it's such a good feeling crossing them off, on that note it's metafit time!

Made by me!

Im so excited to share this with you but I have made my first piece of clothing and it's something wearable! Yes, I made something I can wear! I've only just started sewing but I am loving it, it's so therapeutic. A few weeks back I  bought the miette pattern from Tilly and the buttons blog, I highly recommend this blog I have spent a ridiculous amount of time reading her posts, I am in awe of all her creation.  I thought I'd buy the PDF file so I could get started on it right away but after I sat all the pages out I quickly regretted it. It took me about 2 hours to just put the pattern together and cut out the fabric, now I think if I wasn't so easily distracted by the TV and Facebook and the fact I have to have a full cup of coffee at all times I would of finished it a lot sooner. I worked on it over a few nights but I got there in the end, the most difficult part was understanding the instructions, I'm still getting my head round the sewing lingo.

I do love this style of skirt, it's super cute and really flattering, a perfect skirt for the summer I think.  I used a plain black material as I really thought I'd mess it up and I didn't want to waste any cute fabrics but now I know how to put it together I will definitely need to buy myself some more fabric.  Since I love Tilly and her patterns I also bought her love to stitch book, it's such a fab book and really easy to understand and comes with the patterns inside, it's such a bargain at £13 from amazon. So far I have made a few easy head scarves, next its pj botttoms. I'm actually in need of a new pair funnily enough so I better get sewing!

My new found love!

I meant to post about this last weekend but I've been working stupid nightshifts and it's totally messed me up, I have no clue what day it is, it does not feel like a Friday night that's for sure.
So since my first post I plucked up the courage to buy a sewing machine, yes you heard right a sewing machine. I can't express how excited I am about this, I have always wanted to learn to sew and make my own things but I never had the guts to try it. I've been meaning to take up a new hobby besides exercise so this is it. How cool eh? Haha. I bought a pretty basic sewing machine but the reviews said it was great for beginners so it's ideal for me to get started. It' been great so far, it's really easy to work, which I like.
I can totally see myself getting addicted to sewing, I can see why people love it. A lot of people think it's an old persons hobby. Oh how wrong they are, I know so many young women who sew and make their own clothes. I was shopping today and every time I picked up an item I liked I thought, I wonder how I could make that.  I have spent an incredible amount of time reading about how to start sewing and leaning the jargon, which by the way is difficult to get my head around, it's like a foreign language but hey, I'm sure I'll pick it up in time.

On Monday I completed my first sewing project, a tote bag. I'm pretty impressed with it seeing I've never made anything like this before and I only had to unpick one seam (I got the right sides together wrong)
A cath kidston inspired bag I think. I just love all things floral, it's such ashame my husband doesn't feel this same way. I'm excited to get stuck in now and see what else I can put together.
Anyway, time to sleep!!

Hello, I'm a beginner blogger!

Hey guys, and welcome to my blog! I'll start by introducing myself, I'm Kirsty and I'm a 24 year old Paediatric Nurse from Sunny Scotland, who am I kidding with sunny right? It rains here 99% of the time. I live here with my wonderful husband phil, we have been together 5 years and we have been married for 3 of them. Recently I have been inspired by a few bloggers to write my own blog. I love reading about their latest projects and what's been happening in their lifes, I feel I can relate to so many posts I have read recently and I've said "THATS SO ME" out load! With that in mind I thought why not!!!! At first I thought I didn't have anything remotely interesting to say, And the fact I'm not the worlds greatest writer but I'm sure you have guessesd that by now. I don't have a new business or anything I want to promote for this blog, my blog is just for the sheer fun of it. I want the readers to get that same feeling I get when I read other interesting and fun blogs, I want them to be able to relate to my posts and in essence helping others. I'll write about my thought, my adventures, fashion, food, my latest interested in fitness and so many other things. I don't have one topic in mind but quite a few. My mind is a random one and I'm sure you will find that out soon enough!!
I have so many ideas for future posts so I hope to see you soon. I'd love to hear any feedback or tips
if you care to share.

Thanks
Love Kirsty xoxo
